Heat treatment of different steel types

Metals are heat-treated in modern computer-aided vacuum furnaces and salt baths.

With decades of knowledge and experience in the field of heat treatment of metals, the TRO company ensures our customers a professional and suitable implementation of services.

We provide heat treatment services for metals as part of turnkey production or as an independent service. With decades of knowledge and experience in the field of heat treatment of metals, the TRO company ensures our customers a professional and suitable implementation of services.

Vacuum heat treatment

We perform hardening and tempering of tool steels to provide them with the mechanical properties required in a wide variety of applications. The advantages of the process are minimal deformations, high repeatability of the process and unchanged bright surface of the products. Both conventional tool steels as well as high-speed steels and powder-coated materials can be vacuum-treated. Tempering in a vacuum furnace is computer-controlled, which enables regulation and archiving of all heat treatment processes.

The TRO company operates with 3 state-of-the-art vacuum furnaces from the German manufacturer SCHMETZ, where we can heat-treat products up to dimensions of 800x800x1,600 mm and a maximum batch weight of 2,500 kg.

For special applications with the aim of transforming residual austenite into martensite (thus increasing hardness and wear resistance), we also have the option of cooling after tempering to a temperature of -145 °C.

Tempering in oil or salt bath

Carbon, low-alloy steels and cementation steels are tempered in oil. In the salt bath we are limited by the dimensions of 1000 x 250 x 50 mm.

Induction tempering and annealing

Induction tempering is a process mainly used for low-alloy steels where we want a hard surface and a tough core at the same time. Such examples are pins and battens. For certain applications tool steels are annealed to improve their robustness under dynamic loads.

Annealing and normalization

It is used as a pre-treatment to reduce internal stresses, reduce hardness and increase machinability.

Cementation and carbonitriding

We process cementation steel products where high wear resistance of the surface and a tough core are required.

Nitriding and nitrocarburizing

For industrial applications with special requirements for wear resistance as well as corrosion resistance.
